Job Summary

Fly Baghdad Airlines is currently looking for Safety and Security Director. Safety Manager reports directly to the AM and has authority to intervene with operations.

  1. Basic Function & Scope of Responsibilities

1.1.1.The implementation, maintenance and day-to-day administration of the SMS throughout

the organization on behalf of the Accountable Executive and senior management.

1.1.2.The FDM (Flight Data Monitoring) System is handled by the FDA Manager but mitigation

measures are done and approved together with the contracted FDA Manager by the

Director of Safety and Security.

1.1.3.Investigation, analysis and identification of the cause or probable cause of all hazards,

incidents and accidents identified under Safety Management System.

1.1.4.For safety, security and quality outcomes, including implementation and monitoring of

safety and quality activities and processes, and for ensuring ongoing conformity with all

regulatory requirements, organization standards and local procedures. This responsibility

includes the implementation of corrective and preventative actions identified by the

Quality Assurance Manager via its quality audits or safety investigations or other internal

reporting mechanisms.

1.1.5.The assembly and selective dissemination of Flight Safety information from all sources

within the Company and its correlation with that obtainable from all outside sources.

1.1.6.The Consultation with the Director of Flight Operation, the Crew Training Manager, and

the Cabin Crew Manager to determine the highest standards of safety and crew resource

management in all training activities.

1.1.7.The provision of adequate publicity of flight safety matters within the Company

1.1.8.Liaison with the ICAA on matters, which are responsibility or the concern of the Safety

Department.

1.1.9.Issue Safety and Security Notice to the Flight, Cabin, GRH, DSP Crew

1.1.10. Issue Corporate Safety Bulletins

1.1.11. Conduct LOSA checks.

Basic Knowledge and Skills

1.2.1.To perform this job successfully the Safety Manager should be able to perform each

essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the

knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1.2.2.English level ICAO level 5 minimum.

1.2.3.Have or have had ATPL for minimum 15-20 years and a minimum of 15-20 years’ experience in

Safety Management (SMS).

1.2.4.Have an excellent understanding of the organization infrastructure requirements and

strategic goals to conduct the company's operations.

1.2.5.Have demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.

1.2.6.Should attend SAG meetings.

1.2.7.Should have sound aviation technical knowledge either in Flying Operations, Ground

Operations, Engineering & Maintenance, or equivalent.

1.2.8.Have sound understanding of the current ICAO, ICAA & IOSA regulatory legislation,

1.2.9.Have excellent technical report writing abilities,

1.2.10. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

1.2.11. Have the capacity to represent the company and department to the Executive

management of existing and potential clients and contractors,

1.2.12. Have a high level of computer literacy, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access

and Word. It is recommended an accreditation as an Aircraft Accident / Incident

investigator or equivalent.

1.2.13. Have demonstrable experience in FDM/FDA systems.

1.2.14. Have a demonstrable experience in FDA / SMS integration.

Recommended a demonstrable experience in LOSA audits.
