Job description

Zenon are pleased to be supporting the world’s largest aviation component service provider, to source a Financial Accounting Team Leader on a permanent basis in the South East of the UK.

The successful candidate will manage the Financial Accounting Team, and lead them in meeting both company and statutory filing requirements, and produce financial accounts and reconciliation of financial information. They will also promote learning and development and ensure monthly reporting is done so in accordance with deadlines.

• Work alongside other members of the Finance Team to drive the production of quarterly and year-end accounts and statutory returns, across a range of group companies

• Oversee (and be point of escalation for) all duties of the Financial Accounting team, including:

• Raising ad-hoc invoices and make payments

• Bank & sales invoice reconciliation

• Process expenses

• Monthly production of Finance Department KPI’s


• Conduct quarterly performance reviews, and monitor staff training  

• Submitting VAT returns and overseas financial returns (in absence of Financial Accountant)

• Ensure payments are made within deadlines (PAYE, tax, etc.)

• Dealing with any finance queries

• Financial reporting to both internal and external stakeholders as required in the course of business

• Actively work with all departments of the business for finance compliance (UK and Overseas)

• Correspond with Company Auditors (UK and Overseas)

• Control assigned Balance Sheet accounts

• Ensure targets and objectives are achieved in line with appraisals

• Understand and adhere to Export Control regulations where relevant

• Any other projects and duties as required

• Accountancy qualifications or suitably Qualified by Experience

• Previous experience working in Finance Practice would be advantageous

• Knowledge of MS Dynamics Nav or Quantum would be advantageous, but not essential

• Ability to work on own initiative and as an effective team member essential

• Analytical thinking with reporting skills and problem-solving ability

• Ability to prioritise and manage workloads

• Strong organisation and administration skills with good attention to detail

• Self-motivated, flexible with a positive attitude

• Excellent communication skills at all levels both written and verbal

• Good computer literacy, with good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

• Confident telephone manner
