Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Senior Principal System Test Engineer in a Flight Test Engineer role to work at our Grand Sky Autonomous Capabilities Center located in Emerado, ND just minutes west of Grand Forks, ND. The selected candidate will be joining the Systems Integration Test Engineering (SITE) team at the Grand Sky facility. Position Description As the Senior Principal System Test Engineer in the role of a Flight Test Engineer will serve in the role as Flight Operations Lead for the Grand Sky site, both in support of tenant programs operating at the site as well as leading future aircraft and flight test activities for the site. Represent the company in coordinating flight and ground operations with the Grand Forks Air Force Base and with other Grand Sky tenant companies. Support development of proposals to conduct aircraft modification and flight test at Grand sky. Contribute flight test expertise to laboratory-based mission engineering and model-based test engineering (MBTE) efforts. Some travel required, with potential for extended periods to undergo training or support programs. Essential Duties Train and qualify as Flight Test Conductor andor Director for flight test programs performed at Grand Sky, to potentially include Firebird, Global Hawk, or other manned or unmanned platforms. Plan test missions, prepare test cards, lead engineering briefsdebriefs, coordinate with scheduling, maintenance, and the test aircraft and crew, support post-flight data processing and analysis. Ensure NGC flight and ground aircraft operations at Grand Sky are conducted in accordance with established agreements and procedures coordinate agreement modifications as required to support specific program needs. Communicate and coordinate schedules and resource requirements with external entities, to include GFAFB, FAA, and other organizations. Develop and modify as needed flight-related site Standard Operating Procedures andor Contractor Operating Procedures as required, coordinate with GFRs and company standardization and safety processes. Implementconfigure model-based applications to develop flight systems representations in a mission engineering laboratory environment. Develop task descriptions and labor estimates in response to customer or company flight test program proposal initiatives Brief test approach, status, and results to site and program leadership as required. Mentor junior team members to include interns. The selected candidate should work independently to meet deadlines, learn new concepts quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.
