Title: IT Service Desk Technician

Works with: IT Staff, Business Unit Staff, Vendors, Consultants
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Full Time, 40hrs, Monday through Friday 6:00A to 2:30P

Job Summary
The Service Desk Technician has responsibility for the recording and maintenance of services with the Service Desk, ensuring that services are entered and available in line with defined operational standards.

Primary Duties

Provide timely tier 1 and 2 IT support to end users and employees.
Maintain contact with affected end users and employees throughout the IT issue resolution process, to include status updates and follow up.
Be competent in the identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues with hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices, and other supported systems and services.
Provide ad-hoc training and education to users on the use and function of software and services.
Accurately document IT issue resolution.
Minimize user and system outages to greatest extent possible.
Setup, configure, and deploy desktops and laptops for employees.
Excellent written and oral communication.

Qualifications

1-3 years of experience in the IT field supporting end users and systems in a business environment.
Highly customer focused with the ability to develop solid relationships at all levels within the organization
Highly self-motivated and directed.
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong ability to identify and troubleshoot new and ongoing IT issues affecting end users, workstations, and systems using standard troubleshooting methods.
CompTIA A+ certification.
1-3 years of experience working with Windows desktop operating systems. (Windows 7 thru 10)
1-2 years of experience working with Windows server operating system. (Windows Server 2008 thru 2016)
1-2 years of experience supporting Commercial off-the-shelf software. (For example, Infor products, Sage products)
1-2 years of experience supporting a 24/7 business environment, preferred.

Education/Previous Experience

2-year college degree in the field of IT or 2 years of IT work experience or a combination thereof.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, networking, and business phone systems.

Essential Mental/Physical Demands
Extensive use of hands in writing, use of computer and other office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs. on an occasional basis. Sitting for long periods of time in an office environment. Walking throughout the facility. Use of safety equipment when necessary (goggles, boots, gloves and aprons).
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, safety glasses and hearing protection are required.
