Job description
Yampa Valley Regional Airport - Airside Maintenance Equipment Operator

SUMMARY:
Report to Airport Maintenance Superintendent through Airside Maintenance Supervisor. Work under direct supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor. Operate equipment and perform tasks related to the maintenance of airport airfield and grounds (snow and ice control). Operate equipment and perform tasks related to airport facilities preventive maintenance and construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Operate and perform preventive maintenance on snow removal and heavy equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance and new construction on airport infrastructure.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Operations Safety and Security Department during emergency operations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Perform daily operational tasks as FAA training and experience dictate.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
High school degree or GED, plus one year of facilities maintenance or construction experience. Degree may be waived with an additional four years of airport EQO experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Excellent heavy equipment operating skills.
  • Knowledge of airport construction standards and practices.
  • Ability to apply airport safety and security regulation standards.
  • Basic knowledge of aeronautics preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical both mechanical and commercial.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical repair both heavy equipment and light duty vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
May be exposed to adverse weather conditions including severe cold temperatures, wind, heavy snow, ice, and rainfall. May be exposed to high noise levels, common industrial materials classified as Hazardous; mechanical and electrical equipment. May be required to work extended time periods and non-daylight hours and unscheduled shifts. Tasks may require moderate to heavy lifting.
