Title: LC29 Aircraft Maintainer/Mechanic/Tradesman Level 1 Crewmember (UH-60 Helicopters)

Contingent on Award of Contract

This position is targeted for Other Country Nationals and Third Country Nationals per contract requirements. US ex-pats need not apply.

Location: OCONUS- Various Locations, Afghanistan

Position Status: Full Time

Work Schedule: Deployed work schedule is 10 hours per day, 6 days a week.

Rotation Schedule: Rotation schedule will be 90 days in Afghanistan and 30 days at Home of Record (HOR)/Rest and Recuperation (R&R)

Brief Job Description:

Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repairs replace, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
  • May be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • May service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.
  • Must be capable of qualifying to perform Hazardous Flight duties as Crewmembers/Non-Crewmembers.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • HS diploma required.
  • FAA A & P license or appropriate military occupational specialty with non-rated crewmember flight training. Applicable training courses required.
  • Must be able to maintain FAA CL II medical certificate.
  • Technical or Military School Training desired.
  • 2 Years direct experience in aircraft maintenance; military technical school or an Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License.
  • Personnel filling these positions are required to meet the qualifications in AR 95-20.
  • Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are required.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods. Position may require typing and read from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. Walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull/move items frequently over 20 pounds. Occasionally required to lift/carry/push/pull/move heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The environmental characteristic for this position is an aircraft hangar, warehouse setting, and outdoors in an austere environment. Candidates should be able to adapt to environments listed. There may be exposure to high noises, exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents, and Personal Protection Equipment may be required for certain tasks. This position must be able to work comfortably outdoors and may be exposed to hot/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
