Overview

The selected candidate will provide technical expertise with systems engineering and avionics experience to support Air Force Life Cycle Management Centers Digital Directorate (AFLCMC/HB) at Hanscom AFB, MA within the CNS/ATM Center of Excellence (COE). Candidate should have working knowledge of CNS/ATM technologies, practical hands on execution of a mod program under the USAF Airworthiness process, and exposure to aircraft integration considerations and challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field (Required)
  • Recognized technical expert for given field (Communications, Navigation, Surveillance).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in avionics engineering, preferably 10+years.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Position requires that candidate possess an active security clearance in order to access classified material. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in the candidate being ineligible to support this position.
Job Requirements:

Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and review contract documentation in the form of TRDs, SOWs, CDRL list.
  • Assist in creating notional avionics architectures to satisfy MAJCOM requirements. Ability to envision and propose multiple courses of action (COAs).
  • Guide the technical aspects of business case analysis.
  • Perform technical evaluations on contractors proposals.
  • Understand and employ the assistance of outside agencies in achieving program goals such as the AIMS program office, PNT program office, AFFSA, AF/A3, and EN-EZ home office engineering.
  • Lead technical discussions with multiple stakeholder groups (e.g. maintainers, pilots, command requirements reps.)
  • Perform detailed reviews of contractor deliverables and advise on acceptability for approval.
  • Conduct compliance assessments under the USAFs airworthiness process.
  • Develop and Maintain awareness of current airspace access requirements globally.
  • Actively participate in the development of international standards generation (e.g. RTCA, ICAO, ARINC, Eurocae).
  • Assists aircraft program office staff to develop test plans and procedures.
  • Provide advice and recommendations regarding requirements, interpretations, alternative courses of action, requirements impacts on program schedule and budget; and review, evaluate, and comment on Request for Proposals (RFPs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Fast Track Change Notices, support Program Management Requests (PMRs), Technical Interchange Meetings, Test Meetings, etc. Provide electronic/electrical engineering assessments and solutions for command and control systems, avionics, and sensors that include consideration of electromagnetic compatibility/ electromagnetic interference (EMC/EMI); digital and analog communications design assessment and analyses; network architecture and design assessment; systems simulations; and specification development and compliance.
