Catering Captain
Part Time - Mid Day Shifts, tbd
Onsite at Stanford University

The Catering Captain is an experienced catering professional with exceptional organizational, leadership, and service skills. The Captain interacts with clients and directs banquet staff.
This role requires quick thinking and independent problem solving, and is physically demanding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read event stencils and direct event set-up and service according to specifications
  • Check in with clients at the beginning, end, and throughout events
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the course of an event
  • Ensure Catering service standards are being met by banquet servers and bartenders through observation, coaching and training
  • Meet regularly with the management team to plan, debrief and provide feedback on events and ways to improve logistics and guest and employee experience.
  • 1+ years supervisory experience
  • Previous events or catering experience required- experience as a banquet manager preferred.
  • Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to all staff and guests.
  • Ability to read and write to facilitate the communication process
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time; often an entire shift
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds on a regular and continuing basis
