Job description

The primary role of the Ramp Captain is to create a sense of arrival for all guests of the resort regardless of their mode of transportation and to keep the Porte-Cochere neat and orderly at all times. The Ramp Captain is in a position of authority over the valet runners and reports to the shift supervisor. The person performing this role should have an outgoing personality and a strong understanding of the hotel brand, amenities and the local area it serves.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Staging - Direct traffic and be the point person for the valets on the ramp. Ensure all staff, including leaders, are not to staged near or around dispatch desk. All valets must be facing approaching guest's vehicles.
  • Ramp Hygiene - Expedite the removal of vehicles from the Porte Cochere and direct any visitor pick-ups or drop-offs to the best area of the ramp based on the current traffic conditions.
  • Cleanliness - Monitor Porte Cochere for debris and make sure it is swept regularly. Direct valets to perform routine checks of the arrival roadway.
  • Greeting
  • oEnsure vehicles are being greeted immediately utilizing the hotel name and all doors are being opened.

    oEnsure taxis are being greeted and guests are being welcomed and directed to front desk

    oProvide a general welcome and acknowledgement to ALL guests walking through or by the Porte Cochere.

  • Service - Assist valets in meeting quality standards through their guest interactions.
  • Tickets / Claim Checks - Distribute all valet tickets and bell services claim checks as requested by guests and explain retrieval procedures for each.
  • Parking Information - Have available a list of all convention and hotel events for the day, their self and valet parking charges, and the location of the event.
  • Safety & Security - Make sure all valets are checking vehicles for damage and are marking the tickets appropriately.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs
  • Clean driving record - Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Must be able to meet appearance guidelines listed below
  • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions entire shift

    Employees are expected at all times to present a professional business-like image, even when working behind the scenes. It is the policy of the Company that each employee's dress, grooming, and personal hygiene should be appropriate to the work situation and be consistent with the Company's business standards.

    ?For all male employees a fully grown in, well-maintained mustache, beard or goatee is permitted.

    ?Facial hair must be neatly trimmed at one-fourth of an inch in length and may not present an unkempt appearance.

    ?No visible tattoos or body piercings are allowed. Any tattoos must be covered by your uniform or other means agreed upon by management.

    ?Clean & well-maintained approved uniforms must be worn on shift
