Donald Trump is officially America’s 45th president. He is also the first president for whom Air Force One is not his first personal Boeing airliner. “Trump Force One” – as some have dubbed Trump’s personal jet – was one of the most visible symbols of his run for the Oval Office. Trump likes to call it the “T-Bird,” according to a Discovery Channel documentary featuring the plane.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of Trump’s personal jet and the presidential fleet he inherited.
“Trump Force One”
Mr Trump bought the prized jet in 2011 and splashed out a small fortune on equipping the airliner with every luxury available to him. According to a recent Discovery Channel documentary, he fondly refers to the plane as the “T-Bird” – though since his election victory it has been renamed “Trump Force One”.
Donald Trump’s private Boeing 757 is the 8th of most expensive planes in the world. Its price seeks about $100 million. Donald Trump’s private jet has a lot of features. It includes bedroom, dining room and private guest room. Also there is a bath with 24 – karat gold fixtures! It is important to mention that this Boeing 757 has entertainment system inside – installed video room with cinema system. So, all of the passengers can enjoy a comfortable flight.
The plane even has gold-plated seat belts, while the bedroom reserved for Mr Trump contains wood paneling and silk pillows embroidered with his family crest.
Air Force One
Mr Trump’s plane is considerably smaller than the official presidential jet, with a wingspan of just 38 metres, compared to Air Force One’s 59 metres. And whereas Air Force One has room for 102 people, there are just 43 seats on Mr Trump’s airliner.
Air Force One has 4,000 square feet of interior floor space. Much of it looks more like a hotel or executive office than a jetliner, except for the seatbelts on all the chairs. The lowest level of the plane mostly serves as cargo space. Most of the passenger room is on the middle level, and the upper level is largely dedicated to communications equipment.
The president has onboard living quarters, with his own bedroom, bathroom, workout room and office space. Most of the furniture on the plane was hand-crafted by master carpenters.
Donald Trump claimed Air Force One had “old engines”, and that Mr Obama had a huge carbon footprint.
“Watch Obama talking about the carbon footprint, and then he flies over Hawaii in an old 747 with the old engines spewing the hell out of it,” he said.
“And then he gives a speech about global warming and the carbon footprint. Gets into Air Force One, which is a very old Boeing 747, with the old, really big engines, and if you’re a believer in carbon footprint, you don’t like this, right?”
In his speech last month, Trump took the opportunity to comment on the current Air Force One plane’s looks. “That plane, as beautiful as it looks, is 30 years old,” the president said. “What can look so beautiful at 30?”
